Radiology International in Victoria Falls, Southern Africa

Mwaiseni (Welcome) to Victoria Falls and Southern Africa: The Soul of Africa & The Smoke That Thunders

Radiology International is thrilled to host our next CME Conference in Victoria Falls in Southern Africa! With its vast unspoiled wilderness where nature dictates the pace, Zambia offers a raw, authentic safari experience far from the crowds. It is a vast, unspoiled wilderness where nature dictates the pace, offering a raw, authentic safari experience far from the crowds. From emerald floodplains to pristine woodlands and the birthplace of the walking safari — you are invited to become part of the bush, not merely an observer. Most famous for Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest curtain of falling water on the planet, Zambia lets you get closer to nature.

The CME in Victoria Falls, Southern Africa conference and accommodations will be at the Radisson Blu Mosi-Oa-Tunya Livingstone Resort, a luxurious, eco-conscious sanctuary situated within the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia. It is an exquisite hotel nestled along the banks of the Zambezi River. River Float on the Upper Zambezi

Tuesday, April 6th & Thursday, April 8th

Depart: 3:15pm
Return: 6:15pm
Fee: $250USD/Person
Please wear comfortable clothing that can get wet.

This pleasant river float takes place on the Upper Zambezi, where the river widens into a shimmering mirror, fringed by ancient riverine forests and emerald islands. This isn’t just a boat ride; it’s a front-row seat to Africa’s wild heart.

As we drift silently past pods of hippos yawning in the shallows and crocodiles basking on sunbaked sandbars, we will experience wildlife directly at the water level. We can watch from feet away as herds of elephants wade into the reeds for a midday drink. The air comes alive with the calls of local birds, making this a birdwatcher’s dream. Keep your binoculars ready for the flash of a Malachite Kingfisher or the rare Pel’s Fishing Owl hiding in the overhanging mahogany trees.

We will experience the golden hour, the legendary Zambezi sunset, where the sky bleeds into shades of violet and amber. As the “Smoke that Thunders” rises in the distance, we can bask in the profound quiet of the African bush. Experience the Zambezi as it was meant to be – peaceful, powerful, and perfectly wild.

Elephant Café with High Tea

Tuesday, April 6th & Thursday, April 8th

Depart: 3:00pm
Return: 6:00pm
Fee: $350USD/Person
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Neutral-colored clothing is preferred.

In this wildlife encounter like no other, experience a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for observation and a personal meeting with the rescued Zambezi elephant herd and discover a new-found respect for these gentle giants and their plight.  We arrive by scenic jet-boat ride through the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, enjoying views of hippos and wildlife.  The Elephant Café concept was a unique solution created to eliminate the era of elephant-back tourism in favor of ethical hand-reared elephant management. The elephants here are hand-reared, the older ones rescued from severe droughts and culling exercises done years ago, while the younger ones came from the wild as orphans or have been born into the herd.

Interact with members of the herd in a positive and secure environment with the onus of the experience to “Observe, Experience, and Conserve” and witness the strong bond between members of the herd and their handlers. This love and respect is generously extended by the elephants to all the humans they meet. The herd receive regular visits from an advisory committee of veterinary specialists, who have assisted in all aspects of the herd dynamics including emotional and physical wellbeing – and the all-important dental check-ups!

Afterward enter The Elephant Café, a wooden deck suspended over the Zambezi River for a unique dining experience for a refreshing tea break while resident elephants graze nearby.

Rhino Walking Safari

Tuesday, April 6th & Thursday, April 8th

Depart: 3:30pm
Return: 6:00pm
Fee: $240USD/Person
Comfortable walking shoes and long pants are recommended. To ensure safety and comfort, bright colors, white clothing and sandals are strongly discouraged.

Immerse yourself in the untamed beauty of the African bush on this exclusive, moderate walking safari where we will be introduced to one of Africa’s most endangered legends: the White Rhino. This excursion offers a rare, up-close opportunity to track the White Rhino on foot, guided by expert trackers. Along the way, we will stop to enjoy the signature Zambian hospitality with a break for refreshments.

Get closer than you ever imagined to one of Africa’s Big Five, often spotting mothers with their calves, grazing peacefully just a few meters away. We will experience the thrilling, quiet tension of the wild and gain a deeper connection to nature as we walk in the footsteps of these magnificent giants.

Prepare to learn to interpret animal tracks, dung, and bush indicators to locate the “crash” (group) of white rhinos as we trek through the lush riverine thickets and open plains of Mosi-Oa-Tunya. Once thought to be extinct in the late 19th century, the southern white rhino has made a miraculous recovery thanks to dedicated protection. The rhino is the second largest land mammal and white rhinos are natural lawnmowers because their flat, square lips have perfectly evolved to crop short grasses, creating “grazing lawns” that benefit other wildlife. Our guide will educate us on how the rhino is highly endangered because of poachers. Thought to have highly therapeutic benefits, the tusks of the rhinos are valued on the black market.

Along the way, our guide will select a picturesque spot for a refreshing break to re-energize. The leisurely pace will allow us to stop to observe, ask questions of our guide, and take in this amazing experience.

As the woodsmoke curls and the pots bubble, the air fills with the vibrant storytelling and shared wisdom that have defined these gatherings for generations. You’ll learn the cultural etiquette of the table and the deep-rooted “Ubuntu” philosophy – the belief that a meal is only truly enjoyed when it is shared.

The scenic flight offers breathtaking aerial views of the waterways and wilderness of the legendary Okavango Delta, one of Africas most extraordinary ecosystems. Here, the landscape gradually transforms beneath you, from the Zambezi region to the vast, untamed beauty of northern Botswana.

A lodge representative will welcome us and transfer us through the rugged bush landscape to Savuti Elephant Lodge, a Belmond Safari, located within the famous Savuti region of Chobe National Park.

The Savuti Elephant Lodge is a luxurious, eco-friendly tented camp situated along the Savuti Channel in Botswana’s Chobe National Park. Each air-conditioned room is situated on a raised, wooden platform with a private deck, four-poster bed, and en-suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers. It is known for its prime elephant viewing and is home to the largest concentration of elephants in the world, as well as prides of lions and Southern Africas largest zebra migration.

Upon arrival at the lodge, enjoy a refreshing welcome drink and a relaxed private check-in while taking in views of the surrounding wilderness. Shortly after settling in, lunch will be served at the lodge.

Later in the afternoon, head out on the first thrilling safari experience. Climb aboard an open 4×4 safari vehicle and venture into the Savuti wilderness on an afternoon game drive. With the guidance of an expert ranger, keep watch for elephants, lions, giraffes and other incredible wildlife that call this region home.

As the sun begins to set over the African bush, return to the lodge where the evening continues with a beautifully prepared dinner. Enjoy a relaxed dining experience under the African sky.

Day 2: Sunday, April 11, 2027

As the African bush awakens early, begin the day with a gentle wake-up call as the first light spreads across the Savuti landscape. Gather in the lodges main area where tea, coffee, and a light assortment of baked goods and fruit are served, preparing for the mornings adventure.

As the sun rises, depart on an early morning game drive through the wild plains surrounding Savuti Elephant Lodge. Traveling in an open 4×4 safari vehicle with an expert guide, explore the remarkable Savuti region of Chobe National Park, an area famous for its large elephant herds, powerful lion prides, and dramatic predator encounters. The cool morning hours are one of the best times to observe wildlife as animals move through the bush before the heat of the day.

Returning to the lodge, a leisurely breakfast awaits, allowing time to relax and soak in the spectacular views overlooking the Savuti Channel.

Late morning offers a selection of optional experiences designed to deepen your connection to this extraordinary landscape. Discover the fascinating Savuti Rock Paintings; ancient Bushmen artwork etched into the rock formations near the iconic baobab trees. Alternatively, you may choose to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation with a rejuvenating spa treatment at the lodge (spa treatments are an additional charge).

Lunch will be served back at the lodge. The afternoon is then yours to enjoy at leisure, perhaps relaxing beside the pool, watching elephants gather at the nearby waterhole, or simply taking in the peaceful rhythm of the bush.

Later in the afternoon, venture out once again for another exciting game drive. As the golden light of sunset spreads across the Savuti plains, the guide tracks wildlife and share insights into the delicate ecosystem of the Okavango Delta region.

Upon returning to the lodge in the evening, dinner will be served in the warm glow of lantern light. As evening approaches, the clear desert skies also create the perfect conditions for unforgettable stargazing.
