Day 1: Monday, March 16 – Arrival Day
Upon your arrival in Hanoi, Vietnam, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the luxurious five-star Apricot Hotel, perfectly positioned on the edge of Hoan Kiem Lake, one of Hanoi’s most iconic and scenic landmarks. Offering the fusion of old-world Vietnamese charm and contemporary comfort, the Apricot Hotel creates a truly unique stay in the cultural heart of the capital city.
This evening, we will gather for a welcome cocktail hour with an optional dinner to follow (timing TBD).
Day 2: Tuesday, March 17
This morning, we will begin with a vintage jeep ride through the city landmarks, including Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the tranquil Tran Quoc Pagoda by West Lake. We will continue to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first national university, which is rich in history and Confucian architecture. The journey then leads to Hoa Lo Prison, grimly nicknamed “Hanoi Hilton” by American POWs during the Vietnam War. Among its most notable prisoners were Peter Peterson, who later became the first US Ambassador to a unified Vietnam, and the late Senator John McCain.
We will enjoy a delicious lunch at Madame Hien Restaurant, which has a curated menu featuring classic Vietnamese dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Spend a delightful afternoon exploring Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Begin with a 30-minute cyclo ride through the bustling streets, taking in the charm of French colonial architecture and local life. Stop for visiting the iconic Ngoc Son Temple on Hoan Kiem Lake, learning about its rich cultural significance. Continue your journey with a soothing foot massage to relax and recharge and conclude the experience with a cup of Hanoi’s famous egg coffee at a hidden local café — a creamy, indulgent treat.
This evening, meet your Vespa driver who will be your guide as you kick off the evening with a cocktail at a stylish café. Hop on a vintage Vespa and weave through Hanoi’s bustling backstreets to a unique railway-side spot for infused rice wine and buffalo jerky. Continue to a lively local restaurant for Bun Cha, Hanoi’s must-try dish, followed by Pho Cuon by West Lake, where you’ll learn the art of wrap ’n’ roll. Conclude the night at a vibrant music club, experiencing a unique blend of Vietnamese sounds. Return to your hotel after an unforgettable culinary and cultural Vespa adventure.
*Optional transportation is available
Day 3: Wednesday, March 18
After departing the hotel this morning, we will embark on a 2-hour scenic drive to Ninh Binh Province, a scenic and culturally rich region known for its dramatic limestone karst landscapes, lush rice paddies, and historical significance.
Upon arrival, we will visit Tam Coc (Three Caves), the name of the limestone caves that stretch along the Ngo Dong River. Here, we will board a small boat rowed by a local guide for a 2-hour gentle journey along the calm, jade-green waters of the Ngo Dong River. The river winds through the heart of the Tam Coc area, leading us through dark, echoing caves carved by centuries of water flow, and past ancient temples nestled at the base of the dramatic cliffs. Along the way, we will pass peaceful villages where farmers tend their crops, water buffalo grazing along the banks, and birds swooping low over the water.
After a delicious local lunch, we will head off to Bich Dong Pagoda, a serene ancient temple nestled at the foot of a limestone mountain. Often referred to as the “Emerald Grotto Pagoda,” it is a harmonious blend of architecture, nature, and spirituality. These pagodas are unique because they are built into the mountain’s natural caves. Bich Dong Pagoda offers scenic views and spiritual tranquility near Tam Coc.
Day 4: Thursday, March 19
After breakfast, we will check out of the Apricot Hotel. We will depart Hanoi and travel to Ha Long Bay. On this 2.5-hour scenic drive, we will see the change from the bustling city into greener, more forested areas as we get our first glimpse of Ha Long Bay’s limestone islands. Here, we will board the Lyra Grandeur Luxury Cruise, which offers a breathtaking journey through some of Vietnam’s most stunning and tranquil seascapes.
Upon departing from the harbor and entering into the stunning landscapes of Lan Ha Bay, we will enjoy a welcome drink and lunch onboard while cruising past majestic limestone formations. We will witness the iconic limestone karsts towering out of the emerald-green water. We will pass floating villages, small fishing boats, and famous formations.
In the afternoon, kayak or swim in the calm, crystal-clear turquoise waters of a secluded lagoon. Return to the ship for a sunset cocktail, followed by a gourmet dinner featuring Vietnamese cuisine and other international dishes.
Optional evening activities include squid fishing or simply relaxing on deck under the stars. The boat anchors for the night in the middle of the bay, among the karst formations.
Day 5: Friday, March 20
Awaken your senses with a serene Tai Chi session on the sundeck, followed by a light breakfast amidst the gentle morning breeze. Then, embark on a scenic journey to the ancient Viet Hai Village, hidden deep within Cat Ba Island. Tucked away in a lush, jungle-clad valley within Cat Ba National Park, Viet Hai Village feels like a step back in time — a tranquil, isolated world where nature and tradition live in harmony.
We will travel by bicycle or electric cart along a peaceful path winding past a tranquil lagoon and limestone cave. In the village, immerse yourself in local life as you are offered a rare glimpse into authentic Vietnamese rural life. Enjoy a freshly prepared, home-style lunch in the local restaurant to savor the region’s fresh, organic flavors.
Continue your adventure to Ba Trai Dao Beach, where soft sands and crystal-clear waters invite you to swim or simply unwind beneath the drifting clouds. Tucked away in the quiet, emerald waters of Lan Ha Bay is a trio of secluded white-sand coves framed by majestic limestone karsts, where you can relax and enjoy this slice of tropical serenity. Back onboard the cruise, enjoy happy hour with panoramic bay views. Delight in a cooking demonstration, a gourmet dinner, and an evening of entertainment or quiet reflection under the stars. Overnight, we will cruise along Ha Long Bay.
Day 6: Saturday, March 21
Begin the day early with coffee or tea while our boat cruises through more stunning scenery as we make our way past towering limestone formations, lush valleys, ancient temples, and subterranean grottoes. We will visit a floating village where fishermen use traditional traps and nets near their river-based homes and where temples and pagodas are only accessible by boat.
Return to the cruise for a light brunch before checking out and disembarking late morning. Say farewell to the crew and head back to the harbor, filled with unforgettable memories of Lan Ha Bay’s beauty.
We will be transported for the 3-hour scenic drive to Noi Bai Airport. Enjoy snacks that will be served along the way before arriving at the airport for the short flight to Da Nang. Upon landing at Danang Airport, we will be met by our tour guide and transfer to the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
The five-star InterContinental Danang is an unforgettable escape on Vietnam’s central coast. Here, you can unwind at the world-class spa, explore nearby cultural sites, or simply soak in the panoramic ocean views.
